Fostering Emotional Intelligence, Focus and Resilience: A Holistic Approach for Youth and Teacher Empowerment
In today’s fast-paced digital world, where we are constantly pressured and distracted, focusing on what truly matters can be challenging. For youth, addressing these challenges requires a holistic approach. Simply providing skills and external guidance isn’t enough; we must address the root causes.
Many students carry emotional burdens from their socio-economic and familial environments, impacting their productivity, focus, and relationships. As a result, they often struggle to maintain positivity, calmness, and effectiveness.
Since its inception, BTGT has incorporated mindfulness-based interventions to foster emotional balance, calmness, and focus in students, helping them build resilience. Even a small daily practice of 20 minutes—including prayer, meditation, and journaling—has been shown to shift mindsets and perceptions. Students develop a positive, growth-oriented outlook on life.
In addition to youth training, BTGT has trained over 750 teachers through mental health workshops, equipping them to create compassionate, non-judgmental classrooms that enhance the well-being of both teachers and students.
Emotional intelligence is a key skill for workplace success. All other education falls short if individuals cannot manage their emotions in life’s various challenges. BTGT has trained over 7,000 students in mental health programs, believing that emotional intelligence training should begin in childhood and be integrated into education and parenting.
In the post-COVID world, the importance of emotional intelligence is widely recognized as essential for navigating life with resilience. The good news is that it is a learnable skill, and now is the time for parents, educators, and leaders to make it part of everyday life.
